On May 25, 2024, Fang Qingyun, a PhD candidate under the supervision of Professor Wang, successfully defended his doctoral dissertation in Room N908 of the Mengminwei Science and Technology Building at Tsinghua University.
The defense committee comprised esteemed experts, including Professor Dong Yunfeng from Beihang University, Professor Zhang Yan from Sun Yat-sen University, Senior Engineer Hao Jigang from Beijing Institute of Remote Sensing Information, Professor Wang Tianshu from Tsinghua University, Professor Ren Gexue from Tsinghua University, and Researcher Dong Ge from Tsinghua University. The attending experts highly praised Fang Qingyun's doctoral work, considering his dissertation to be an excellent PhD thesis.
After thorough discussion and a unanimous vote by secret ballot, the defense committee agreed to pass Fang Qingyun's doctoral dissertation defense and recommended awarding him the Doctor of Engineering degree.
Fang Qingyun's thesis, titled " Research on Intelligent Multi-Source Object Detection for In-Orbit Applications of Imaging Satellites," focuses on innovative deep learning methods for the efficient fusion of multi-source observational data in the context of on-orbit intelligent processing of imaging satellites. His research holds significant theoretical importance and promising engineering applications.
